Toyota Audio Multimedia: Screens, Phone Connection and Sound by Model
Toyota Audio Multimedia is Toyota's own name for its touchscreen system, and it isn't the same in every Toyota. Screens run from 8 inches up to 14 inches, and the size changes by model and often by grade. Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility is standard on every grade of models like the Corolla, Camry, RAV4, Highlander and Tacoma. JBL® Premium Audio is standard on some upper grades, available on others and not offered on many base grades. So if you're shopping for a new Toyota in Central Indiana, look at the grade as closely as the model, then see the new Toyota specials running now.
What Toyota Audio Multimedia Is
Toyota Audio Multimedia means the touchscreen system that plays your music and connects your phone. Toyota often names the system with its screen size, as in the 8-in. Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen on the 2027 Corolla.
What else it does depends on the model and the screen:
-
2026 Sienna: The larger 12.3-inch touchscreen has voice recognition, so you can activate the system with a phrase like "Hey, Toyota."
-
2026 Highlander: Playlists, podcasts and mobile apps come up on the larger 12.3-inch display, and you can reach the system's controls by voice.
-
2026 RAV4: The larger 12.9-inch touchscreen puts entertainment, directions and controls front and center, and it takes voice commands.
On some models, such as the 2027 Prius and the 2026 Camry, the system also includes a USB media port plus Bluetooth® hands-free calling and music streaming.

Seven models keep one screen size on every grade. On those, the grade you pick can change the speakers but not the screen.
Are the Upgrades Worth It?
On several Toyotas, the larger Toyota Audio Multimedia screen and JBL Premium Audio are separate choices, and JBL is often reserved for the upper grades. These grades can add the larger screen but not JBL:
-
Camry SE and Nightshade
-
Corolla SE and Hybrid SE
-
Corolla Cross LE and Hybrid SE
-
Highlander XLE and Hybrid XLE
-
Prius XLE and Nightshade
-
Tundra SR5, through the Premium Audio Package
These grades can add both the larger screen and JBL:
-
Highlander XSE
-
Land Cruiser 1958 grade
-
Sequoia SR5
-
Tacoma TRD Sport and TRD Off-Road, including i-FORCE MAX
Every 4Runner grade with the larger display also gets JBL Premium Audio, and the Tacoma Limited, Limited i-FORCE MAX, TRD Pro and Trailhunter pair the larger screen with JBL as standard.
Which upgrade is worth it depends on whether you'll lean on the screen or the sound system more, and a test drive is the place to find out.
Common Mix-Ups
"Every Toyota has the same screen." It doesn't. A Camry LE and a Camry XSE have different standard screens.
"Any grade can add the larger screen." Not on every model. The Camry LE, Corolla LE, Prius LE and Sienna LE can't add it, and neither can the RAV4 LE, SE, XLE Premium or Woodland. On the Tacoma, the SR, SR5 and TRD PreRunner keep the standard screen.
Before Your Test Drive
Think about a normal week of driving. If most of it is a commute with your phone's maps and a playlist, the standard screen with a wireless phone connection may cover it. If your weekends include long road trips with a full car, the larger screen or JBL Premium Audio may be worth the step up.
When you have a model and a grade in mind, ask us about current specials and come test-drive it with us at Ed Martin Toyota in Noblesville. Bring your phone, pair it, play something you know well and use the screen the way you would on a normal day before you decide.
Frequently Asked Questions
It's Toyota's name for its touchscreen system. Toyota groups the screen with the speakers, JBL Premium Audio where it's offered, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
It depends on the model and the grade. Starting screens run from 8 inches on models like the Corolla, Camry and Tacoma to 14 inches on the bZ and C-HR. In between, the RAV4 starts at 10.5 inches, and the Crown, Crown Signia and Grand Highlander start at 12.3 inches. Upper grades or options bring larger screens on many models. The Tundra SR5 can add a 14-inch screen as part of the Premium Audio Package.
On many models, yes. Every grade of the 4Runner, bZ, C-HR, Camry, Corolla, Corolla Hatchback, Corolla Cross, Crown, Crown Signia, GR Corolla, Grand Highlander, Highlander, Land Cruiser, Prius, RAV4, Sequoia and Tacoma has it. On the Sienna, it comes on the LE, XLE and Woodland Edition, so ask us about the XSE, Limited and Platinum. Every GR86 grade is Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible, and for the Tundra, ask us about the grade you want.
No. JBL isn't offered on many grades, including the Camry LE, SE and Nightshade, the bZ XLE, the C-HR SE, the Highlander XLE and Hybrid XLE, the Sienna LE, the Tacoma TRD PreRunner and the Tundra SR and SR5.
The 2026 RAV4 does. Its 12.9-inch touchscreen is standard on the XSE and Limited.
Not always. The Corolla has six speakers with either screen, unless you add JBL on the XSE or Hybrid XLE. The RAV4 XSE pairs its 12.9-inch screen with six speakers, while the RAV4 Limited adds a 9-speaker JBL system.
