Our city of Noblesville, IN, was founded in 1818. We’ve grown a lot since then, and we continue to make our mark on our home state. As we’ve grown, we’ve added numerous attractions. Some are natural, and some are the product of our unique city. We’re proud of our city, and we enjoy showing locals and visitors alike the best we have to offer. Hamilton County Sheriff’s Residence & Jail

This building was built 1875-1876 out of brick and limestone in the Second Empire style. It functioned as the sheriff’s department and jail until 1977. It has been converted into a museum and has been decorated with original 19th-century artifacts. The sheriff’s house is two stories high and has a three-story jail attached at the rear. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The jail itself has still has all of the original graffiti from prisoners, and once housed the infamous Charles Manson. There is also an excellent reference library available that catalogs the history of the Noblesville area. The volunteer staff are very knowledgeable about the jail and have a lot of behind-the-scenes information. The museum is free, but donations are gratefully accepted. The museum can be found at 810 Conner Street.

Strawtown Koteewi Park

If you love history, archaeology, or nature this park is the place to visit. Strawtown covers more than 800 acres. The park is made up of woodlands, wetlands, and a vast prairie area. Nature lovers will thrill at the broad variety of animals and birds that make this area their home. There are walking and hiking trails available for you to enjoy the beautiful scenery, hear the sounds of numerous birds, and catch a glimpse of the local wildlife.

If you’re looking for more athletic pursuits, they have an archery center and shop where you can rent or buy equipment. There is also an equestrian stable, where you can hire a horse and ride through sections of this beautiful park. You can also hire a canoe and boat on the water. They have an archeological site where you can find out more information on the area’s original inhabitants and history. Strawtown is open every day from dusk till dawn.

Morse Lake

Morse Lake is a man-made lake constructed by the US Army Corps of Engineers in 1956. It covers an area of over 1800 acres and has become a haven for water enthusiasts. Two beautiful parks and 33miles of the beach provide a recreational venue. For the avid angler, the lake is home to large populations of walleye, bass, crappie, and catfish.

A marina on the east side of the lake has boats available for rent and enjoy fishing or simply boating on the pristine waters. Morse Lake is located at 20999 Hague Rd.
